hey RJ !
its just that the msdos.sys file is registered as a system file and earlier it might
have been registered to open with notepad , which gave it the text file icon.
the icon on a file is usually the icon of the program that is used to open that file.
here's what we can try
open the notepad from
start->programs->accessories->notepad
and drag the msdos.sys file into the notepad.
and you should be able to see the file as bfore
