Hi Susan!
what you need to do is use ctrl+alt+delete to
shut down all of the programs running in the
background (Except Explorer) because some of
these programs interfere with scandisk and defrag,
causing them to restart alot until you finally get a
message like (drives content has changed or restarted
ten times: what do you want to do?) Also if you use
norton antivirus, and it has live update, you should
disable this feature when using scandisk or defrag
because it sends out some kind of signal about every
5 minutes that will cause your drives contents to
change and restart. Also turn off your screen saver.
I have no problems running scandisk or defrag anymore
since I began doing it this way.
