May be a corrupt system file or registry entry. This can't hurt and may help any other problems also.
  • Select START\RUN, in the 'Open' box type SFC (System File Checker) and press enter. Follow the prompts and have your Win98 CD handy.
  • Reboot and press and hold the 'CTRL' key to enter the boot menu. Select the 'COMMAND PROMPT ONLY' option and press enter.
  • At the C:\> prompt type SCANREG /FIX and press enter. This can take up to 10 minutes or so.
There are other software issues that can cause this problem, if these procedures do not resolve it. JmC
