Absurd large excel and powerpoint files

My computer is creating extremely large excel files (20Mb). It does have about 20.000 lines and a pivot table, but it still seems a bit too large for an excel file. Also I've been working on a powerpoint file that began getting too large, although I didn't add any more slides. It is now at 8.500Kb. Strange thing is that if I open it on another computer, and save it without making any changes, it shrinks to about 7.300Kb. The same thing happens to the excel file, shrinking it to about 17Mb. Does this have to do with configuration or is it a virus? Thanks for your attention!
