Oh yeah, it's crap alright. I use my free account there for emergency road access
- but it's turned into a Spam trap. And I do mean Spam. As in, say 150 ads per
day??? (I actually suspect that Hotmail itself may have something to do with this,
in the hope that freebies might be persuaded to upgrade to their paid service.)
Anyhow, there's a dandy little utility program called "MailWasher" downloadable from
www.mailwasher.net. It's not very pretty, but it's very customizable and it filters
Hotmail Spam very effectively, all WITHOUT ACTUALLY LOGGING ON to Hotmail via IExplore
(thus avoiding the agony of the lengthy sign-in screens and the clunky Hotmail interface.)
If you have a couple of HotMail accounts, you can even check your mail in all of
them on the same screen, delete the garbage and/or bounce the Spam right back to
sender. MailWasher is developed by an Australian guy, Nick Bolton, and its free
although like me you may want to register with a few bucks. I don't know this person,
so this is a completely unsolicited endorsement - and the only freeware besides MirC
that I think is the cat's pyjamas.
