The other thing is that Windows memory management is kinda silly. After a while
it winds up unloading certain things from memory, like the "New" menu, depending
on the size of your Page File, physical memory, etc. So, you're right that it really
does scan the message just about every time. The previous reply gives you steps
to take to speed up the process, but even if you turn the default delay off, you're
still going to run across this if you haven't used a menu for a while.
