I received this error just 2 days ago. Upon booting received lock up status receiving
message "CONMG: Windows Protection mother f*cking Error. Restart Windows."
Do this first! Error occurred on laptop with W98, a Winbook, not important.
LOOK to see if while booting your computer consistently checks memory, and if it
is correct!
I noticed it OCCASIONALLY checked memory, and then incorrect at times...Here I received
suggestion of memory problem...AND I HAVE installed memory maxxing it out from EBAY
several months past....
THE MEMORY WAS NOT SEATED PROPERLY!!
Remove or replace memory with kown good memory chip...if works, systematically take
the old memory and find a very large hammer and walking to nearest concrete surfacebeat
the living hell out of it!
IF these solutions do not work, goto Microsoft site listed in a thread herein and
follow suggestions...
The other issue from known past experience is corrupt system registry...REPLACE with
old registry file or new one altogether.
Use MSCONFIG to systematically check all start up programs for faults, REM out all
virus program lines in autoexec and config sys and anywhere else for that matter.
Run MSCONFIG and deselect Debug Manager.
MS CONFIG HAS SOLVED MY PAST PROBLEMS.
MCAFEE SECOND MOST PREVELANT PROBLEM.
In Safe Mode (as this is only way to enter windows environment) right click my computer,
properties, then double click related items such as video , controllers of sorts
for games, etc. and REMOVE CHECK FROM box below deactivating item....dont worry about
remembering WHAT you checked as will when reentering show you WHAT is not functioning
by "!" along side item.
Anyway, if your system boots properly, systematically remove an item one at time
until does not boot properly.....this is problem...
THIS is liste within Windows help section for troubleshooting....
Last ATTEMPT,,,,, reformat hard drive reinstall Windows....
IF YOU DID ALL OF THIS FIRST, VERY SORRY, BUT CHECK MEMORY FIRST!!!!! AS DOING ALL
OF THIS WILL NOT SOLVE PROBLEM.......
AND WHETHER MEMORY REGISTER CORRECTLY OR NOT, THIS APPARENTLY WILL STILL CAUSE THIS
ERROR IF MEMORY IN SOME OTHER WAY FAULTY OR NOT SEATED PROPERLY ETC....
Thanks for all help seen here...Everyones thoughts and suggestions VERY appreciated..
