I had very similar. System slowed down, menus opening erratically, refusal to shut
down properly. As I have recently gone broadband and had bought PC Cillin I was looking
there. I had forgotten I had downloaded free real player a couple of weeks ago -
you get so used to seeing it around - and you suppose that they know what they are
doing. Getting desperate, even contemplating the dreaded (for me) c drive reformat
etc. Did a search for rnadmin and came upon this correspondence. I deleted (well
actually transferred to a floppy) rnsystem.dat from windows/ application data folder
and everything was back to normal W98 i.e. not marvellous but pretty cool. I am forwarding
this link to real player!!! Thanks everyone for this correspondence and Happy Christmas.
