Forget CheckIt! There's a great program specifically designed to test your memory 
as thoroughly as possible, it's called MemTest86 and it happens to be free. (Released 
under the GNU General Public License.)

The MemTest86 installer creates a bootable floppy, then you reboot to run the test. 
The quick once-over should only take a few minutes, but I've seen faults that only 
appeared in one of the longer tests. Select "all tests" and let it run for a few 
hours if you want to be really sure.
