The files in the "c:\windows\options\cabs" directory are the setup files copied from the win98 or win95 cd. Not all files from the cd are copied to this directory, just the cabinet files, if I remember correctly. Yes, you can delete the entire options directory to free up space, and you may see no change to your system. However, if your system has been set up properly, Windows knows that its setup files are in this location and if the windows setup files are required for installation of a program, it will grab them from here automagically, with out asking for your win9x cd. Deleteing the options directory can be a trade off of convenience for space. Ana T.
