Where are you trying to read the CAB from, the Windows CD or from the hard drive?
If the CD, it may be scratched so that a file can no longer be read correctly.
Or if the hard drive, it may have more cluster errors. Have you run scandisk recently?
If you start getting ncreasing numbers of bad clusters, it is a sign the drive is
on the way out and you should replace it pronto (while you still have time to copy
files from the old drive to a new one)
