for convenience I've created my own desktop shortcuts for Shutdown and Restart, and
they work quite nicely. try this...right-click an empty area of your desktop,
select New>Shortcut . Into the command line box copy&paste this exactly: C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE
SHELL32.DLL,SHExitWindowsEx 2 then hit Next button and name it Restart, then Finish.
Double-clicking the icon should cause your computer to reboot. Let me know how it
works out. good luck.
