Yes, use Partition Magic, and for a 40GB HD, *FIVE* 8GB partitions could be best,
because an 8GB partition is the largest size that still uses the smallest Cluster
size of 4KB, which will give you the most efficient use of your disk space for many
files with widely varying sizes (especially for many small files). However, a few
really large files do very well in larger partitions, which would have larger Clusters.
I find that Partition Magic itself really helps me find the best fit for certain
partitions with specialized purposes.
