To be sure, our discussion does manage to detract from the OP's concern; I apologize
for that...
I accept your viewpoint as a constructive suggestion; perhaps I could have been
more receptive; just a difference of opinion. Heck, wouldn't be
interesting if we agreed on everything...
Anyways, jdee, there are times to where subject lines almost beg to be
changed; either due to their length or lack of clarity, too, in addition to arbitrarily
changing it.
I don't see it as being uncommon to change the subject line; either to emphasize
that you're adding additional commentary (which I sometimes do), or
simply to draw attention to your response, for whatever reason.
Reasons aside (be they serious or humorous ones), I don't view it as a
distraction (or confusing); doing so often livens up the thread, IMO.
Just another angle to express ourselves. The only times 'confusion' come
into play is when responses are directed to the wrong party -- it's not the subject
line that's at fault, but rather when the responder chooses to reply.
Have a good weekend.

OK - maybe I overstated the frequency ) I hit 2 out of 2. I feel it is better to
stay in context for others looking at new posts. In my case, I use chronological
listing of messages so changing the message subject in mid-thread does lose the continuity.
Sorry if I offended but I thought I made a polite suggestion.
