Those MS updates have been causing more problems lately. It's getting ridiculous...
If you can't access any desktop icons or anything, the only thing I can suggest is
to restore a known good registry backup. Unless...do you have a Windows Keyboard?
If so, and you can bring up the start menu, you should be able to access RUN. Then
you should be able to repair I.E. That may fix the problem.
To restore the registry, it's important this is done as soon as possible. If it's
over 5 days, it's too late. There are 5 backups by default. Once a day on bootup,
the registry is backed up.
Reboot and hold the CTRL button down, until you get the boot menu. Choose Command
prompt only. At the C:\> type: scanreg /restore and press enter.
Choose a date before this happened. When finished, type: win and hit enter
and see whether you can get back into Windows.
Btw, I'm curious as to what "fixes" you installed.
