Q: How do I remove the Free PC Banner Ads?
A: INSTRUCTIONS FOR REMOVING YOUR FREE-PC RESOURCE CENTER IN SAFE MODE
Be sure you have subscribed with a new Internet service provider before you do the
following!
1. Turn on or restart your computer.
2. When the red Compaq or blue Dell logo appears, immediately press and hold the
left Shift key.
3. Keep holding down the key until you see the message "Windows is running in safe
mode".
4. Release the Shift key, and click on the OK button.
5. Once Windows has completely finished loading, double click the My Computer icon.
6. Double click the C: drive icon and then double click the folder called Program
Files.
7. Delete the PC folder by left clicking it so that it is highlighted and then press
the Delete key on the keyboard.
8. Click OK or Yes if prompted “Are you sure you want to remove the folder 'PC' and
move all its contents to the recycle bin?”.
9. Click the Start button on the lower left side of your screen, select Restart and
click OK.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR FREE-PC RESOURCE CENTER DOES NOT DELETE IN SAFE MODE
1. Click on Start.
2. Click on Shutdown.
3. Click on Restart in MS_DOS Mode.
4. Once you see the C:\WINDOWS>, type the following: DELTREE /Y C:\PROGRA~1\PC
5. After typing in the above command, hit the Enter key.
Once you see the C:\WINDOWS> prompt again,
type Exit and then hit Enter.
