I have already tried that. I got an older version of it.
Still no sound.
Even though it says on the website with the "news around the world" that the latest
versions of WMP or RA are required and gives download links.
Last night someone suggested downloading DirectX8 (said there is 9 but he had the
same problem with WMP and used 8 and it worked). Apparently, according to the test
results I had DirectX 6. I never even knew I had DirectX-anything before that.
So, I downloaded DirectX8 and I had WMP9 and DX8
I thought it was the solution. It played audio files and CDs from the D drive.
I tried it on the website with the news from all over the world, and it brought
up the video and not audio. I mainly tried it on USA sites, to make sure it wasn't
because of a foreign country.
On one of them the same error message came up (that had with the CDs before the
DirectX upgrade) that WMP can't play this file because there's a problem with th
esound device, maybe being used by something else of not functioning properly.
I'm thinking maybe I should download DirectX9. It says on it once it's installed
you can't take it out. But it will probably go back to 8 if it makes something worse.
It's not really that big a deal, my audio files and CDs are playing.
I guess, mainly I'd like to have it work just to have it work.
Thanks,
~ Carrie
