I would hazard a guess that when you installed System works that you have all of
the Norton utilities starting with Windows Start-Up to "protect" your system. This
is OK on a really powerful computer with plenty of resources, but with my 1.0GHz
PIII and 256Mb RAM it is better to only allow the Registry tracker to start up.
NU has several things starting all of which require system resources.
I would un-install all these things and be VERY selective when re-installing.
The one JmC gave you on OE Opening Very Slowly is well worth looking at.
I use DKLite to keep a check on Norton's Speed Disk as, if you set up Speed Disk
wrong, when you run DKLite you get a nasty surprise.
Most '98s when defragmented with DKLite ... run better.
Give it a try, it is alawys easy to un-install if you are not pleased with it.
