It may be that the current Registry has problems. Try restoring a Registry backup, 
and then use the DOS version of KeyFinder.

Download the Key.bat 
file at the bottom of the page and copy it to a boot disk, or to the root directory 
of C:\. Boot with the disk and from the A:\> prompt, type KEY and press enter. 
Or after restoring the Registry from the C:\> prompt, type KEY and press enter. 
The Product Key should be listed on the first two lines.
  • Boot, press and hold the 'CTRL' key to enter the boot menu. Select the 'COMMAND PROMPT ONLY' option and press enter.
  • At the C:\> prompt, type 'SCANREG /RESTORE' and press enter.
  • When the screen appears, select the first available backup.
