Is the Windows 98 disk you have an upgrade or the full version? If it's an upgrade,
you should be able to do it. If it's a full version, you might format your drive.
Back up any files on a floppy first that you may want. Then go into ms-dos and type
format c: . This will then format your drive. When it is done, enter the disk and
restart your computer. Your computer should then install windows 98.
Formatting is usually a last resort, but it's the only resort that worked with me
when I wanted to remove 98 and add 2000.
