I will expand the problem with 'icons rearrangement' by adding new details.
After applied Disk Defragmenter in Win2k/SP3, and rebooted, the following happened:
1. Icons moved into three columns on the edge of the Desktop
2. Appeared 'Getting Started with Windows 2000'
3. Mouse (MS IntelliPoint 3.2) pointer speed reset to default
4. Folder Options: 'General', 'View' values reset to default
So, I repositioned icons on the Desktop
(as it was previously),
changed several parameters in Folder Options,
increased speed of the mouse by two points,
unchecked 'Show the Screen at Startup',
and, additionally, in the Registry, changed 'AutoArrange'
(wherever was found) from 0x01 to 0x00.
After rebooted the machine, exactly the same happened as explained in 1-4 above.
System totally has overwritten all changes
that I made.
Plus, in the Registry, 'AutoArrange' returned to 01.
I played this game several times in a row, but result was exactly the same (as explained)
every single time.
By the way, I tried NoSaveSettings (there are entries
under Windows NT), but without any efects.
Thanks in advance for any help to resolve the problems.
