At the website: http://www.geocities.com/thestarman3/tool/FreeTools.html
there is a free program to download called Desktop Icon (Position)
Saver. I created a directory in C:\Programs called Desktop_Icon_Saver
and unzipped all contents there. Place shortcuts to IconSaver.exe and
RestoreIcons.exe in your startup directory. Arrange your desktop icons
the way you want and run SaveIcons.exe. After rebooting, your icons
should be where you want.
Putting RestoreIcons.exe in the startup directory eliminates the need
for manually running the .exe after rebooting. Is there a "Shut Down"
directory that will run programs at shut down? If so, placing a shortcut
to SaveIcons.exe in it would eliminate the need for manually saving the
icon positions.
