Okay, this is starting to get to me. Normally, I don’t have these type of issues
and I can repair things quickly, but I have never run into anything like this.

Long story made short:
* Windows XP crashed horribly during regular usage (I was simply on IE).
* Couldn’t find my original CD for XP, and my copy of it isn’t working for some reason.
 I also can’t use the CD’s that came with my HP and Compaq. Grr... So I couldn’t
use the repair features.
* I hid the partition and tried to install 98se on another. It keeps detecting the
XP OS somehow even when hidden.
* When 98 setup does scandisk, it prepares to install the OS and then crashes. I
get the “Standard mode: Fault outside of MS-DOS Extender” error. (Described in more
detail below).
* I unplugged the hard drive (with XP hidden) where I was installing 98SE to. I
left my other drive on only and then tried to install 98SE a new empty partition.
* I still get the “Standard mode” error! Nothing I do can clear it up! I formatted
the MBR and nothing still! I install from 98SE on CD or with the bin files on my
PC and still the same error!
* I had tried DOS network boot disks so I can copy the data from another PC over
our small in house network, but no matter what settings I try, I cannot get the network
boot disks to connect to the network!
(http://www.nu2.nu/bootdisk/network/ :: Does not work at all for me.)
(http://www.softnews.ro/public/cat/13/4/13-4-1.shtml :: Works, but will not connect
to network.)
* I cannot get passed this error, please help!
* Windows Knowledge Base doesn’t help me much at all.

Goal:
Recover Data! I have data on a lot of partitioned drives. All are FAT32 with the
exception of the hidden NFTS with XP. I am trying to do anything get the data off
these drives. I have a TON of archived info I need (which I will put on CD for now
on!).

Computer Specifications:
* Intel Pentium III  1000MHz
* 256 RAM
* Two Hard Drives ~ 20Gigs each

Detailed Errors:
* (On trying to install Win 98SE)
Standard mode: Fault outside of MS-DOS Extender
(Can’t get past comp. hang up. Can’t even boot to disk. I would give you all the
info here, but after the bios displays all it’s data, the system hangs now.)

* Computer now hangs on boot up randomly and I have no idea what the cause is.
