hi folks. i've faced the similer problem after installing norton av. but the file name was differnt. xvmcxdirm.exe either it was some virus that did that (which must've been on norton's installer cd) or the cause can be that i didn't restart my pc right after the installation of NAV. the problem was that some how the default open command was changed and instead of exe files being opened by windows shell. they were supposed to open by the junk exe file which didn't exist. as this isn't seem to be a random happening i guess there mite be some glitch in norton's installer or something never the less, Bob's solution is pritty niffty and easy to work thanx bob :)
