I have a similar occurrence here -- BUT... the "rename regedit.exe to regedit.com" does NOT work. When we try to run regedit.com, it is recognized as being really an .exe, and so therefore, it will not run at all. How, then, to get into the registry to change the entry for exefile???? This occurred after infection with (Norton name) worm.AUTOMAT.AHD
