I got same problem with my ATX case. I have Gigabyte GA7VAX board w/AMD XP1900 CPU. It works perfectly fine on automatic shut down till I bought a nice new Logitech Wireless Duo Keyboard/Opticial Mouse. Now it won't automatically shut down. I noticed that after holding button for 4 second shutdown, system shut off completely except for Mouse/Keyboard wireless receiver still lit on. I decided to remove it and use old Cordless Logitech Keboard and Mouse. I powered it up and shut it down and it works the way it supposed to do, automatically shut off ATX system. It have NOTHING to do with BIOS settings (even tried disable Keyboard and Mouse "wake on" ) (also reflashed BIOS to newer version too, still no avail). I've done several ways but no luck with new Logitech Wireless Duo Keyboard/mouse. So Blames goes to Logitech for using "live power" function that prevent ATX power to shut down system completely. (Logitech cust. svc is lousy, no E-mail response!!) Could it be that a cheap 300 watt ATX power supply that came with $25 CPU case from computer store? I have not tried getting a more expensive power supply. Using Linux Mandrake 9.1 and Redhat 9.0 (two different hddr). It shut down the ATX system completely with Logitech Wireless Duo connected with no problem!!?? Sound like M$ have problem with it. (Hey! sorry for being in wrong Windows Forum cuz I'm using Win ME OS, not Win 98 but Win ME is like Win 98 3rd edition anyway so thought to throw in my experience with the ATX auto-shutoff) Last of all, if you have anything that you installed or plugged into ATX system. try take any hardware out and experiment to see any difference. If auto-shutoff works fine after removing hardware, Then that's the suspect.. Either exchange/replace hardware or put up and live with it if you love your new hardware. I don't shut off my system before bed. I left it running 24/7 except power black out :-) It won't do any harm anyway cuz I uses power saver on to turn off monitor and HDDR after 30 min (using Home/Office Desk in Screensaver "advance" setting) THANK You! :-)
