This is more likely a function of your server disconnecting you than your own system. It is important to note whether the disconnects happen during data transfer or during considerable pauses between network requests (ie while your reading a page and not clicking a link) because ISPs will disconnect customers who havent made a network request for a set amount of time to allow other customers to connect. This timeout varies depending on how many customers are dialing the ISP at a given time. If it is a function of the ISP cutting you off, the cut offs should occur more frequently during peak periods (ie the evening). The software that Bob is talking about will create network traffic and try to fool the ISP into believing that you are actively using the connection. If you believe that the problem is a function of your modem, try turning the maximum connection speed of your modem down to 24,000kps and see if that helps Robert
