Similar tip. It takes a bit longer to set up but involves less mouse travelling afterwards
and looks a little neater! After going through this process you will have a list
of relevant applications at the TOP of your right-click context menu for any file
type you edit.
For Win2K and in any Win Explorer window, click Tools > Folder Options, then select
the File Types tab.
Next choose the file type you want to edit (eg .gif, .mpeg, .mp3, etc) and then click
on the Advanced button to open the Edit File Type window.
Beside the field labelled Actions you will see a button called New. Click to open
the New Action window (almost there ... )
In the Action field type the name of the application, then click Browse, to find
and select the .exe of the desired application. Click Ok.
You can keep add more apps to the Actions field by clicking New and in this way build
up a list for any file type (eg for .gif I use Fireworks, Photoshop, Paint Shop,
Photo Editor). If you've finished here, then click all the Oks back to where you
started.
All done. Like I said a little more long-winded than the "Send To..." tip but I prefer
the results.
HTH,
Richard
