Memory has nothing to do with your hard drive space. A lot of temporary files are 
created, when performing  various tasks, programs installed, etc. It's normal for 
free space to decrease as you use your systme.

You can clear out various useless temp files and uninstall programs you don't use. 
You should not allow your drive to get below approx. 200 MB free space at anytime. 
Windows needs breathing space.
