This has just happened to me, and I did a search to see if anyone else had experienced it. This came out of the blue, I hadn't installed anything for ages. Luckily I did remember updating my Video Card drivers about a month ago. So acting on a hunch, I un-installed them in Safe mode, then re-installed the Original drivers (not the updated ones). This solved the problem. Maybe other people should revert back to their supplied or older drivers to see off this nasty little problem.
