That means the hard drive has died, or the hard drive (IDE) controller has croaked.
If it's the hard drive controller, you need to replace the whole computer, but the
data on the old hard drive should still be accessible after the drive is installed
in the new computer as a second hard drive.
If it's the hard drive, you can replace the drive and reinstall everything. Unfortunately,
all your data will be lost.
