No Sound...Please Help!

Posted this earlier, but still can't figure out the problem. The volume control
isn't in the task bar, but I can find when I go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Entertainment,
but when I click on it, it doesn't open. When I go to control panel>multimedia,
the 'audio' tab shows that I have no preferred device selected, and under the 'devices'
tab, I have three Audio Devices: Audio for HAMR Voice Modem (listed twice), and
Audio for SoundMAX integrated Digital Audio. My machine is a MyFavoritePc, and the
sound is built into the motherboard. I have no idea what to do. I think maybe I'm
missing a driver or something, but the sound has worked fine for the 3 or 4 years
I've had the machine. I can't figure out what I did wrong...I looked for viruses
and there are none, and I have no spyware on my machine. Please Help
