I have a question about Do I still need CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT?:

I'm having a serious problem with my desktop computer that I need to fix. It won't boot up normal, the only way it starts is in safe mode. In the system properties\performance it's telling me that there is a compatability mode paging problem and drives a: and c: are using the compatability mode file system. I'm wondering if I can fix this paging thing it won't help it start up properly. It won't start with the system boot disks or anything, it won't even recognize the cd drive in safe mode. If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it, I have little or no idea when it comes to these things, it's probably an easy fix. Thanks
