Internet Explorer Update crashed, Desktop Icons Vanished Monday, December 29, 2003 at 6:29 pm Windows 98 Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Nathan (1 messages posted) My online bank asked me to update Internet Explorer to 6.0 to run its pages. The download from Microsoft froze, and after about a half-hour I had no choice but to power down my computer. Upon re-starting my computer, it goes through it's normal routine and I enter my networking password, but once that's done all of my desktop icons and taskbar stuff (start button, etc.) have vanished - nothing but the background art. I'm trying to avoide the approximated 71 wait for help at Microsoft (just called). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
