Which file does what in W98?

I would appreciate it if someone more knowledgable than I am could explain to me what the "wininst.bat" file does, and whether or not it is essential to the operation of Windows 98. I am asking because my free anti-virus software keeps insisting that this file is infected with a worm (opasoft), and asking me if I want to delete it. Dare I do so? Apropos of this inquiry, is there any such thing as a Windows 98 SAQ (seldom asked questions)? Information on how Wx actually works is very hard to come by in my experience. I understand the need to protect proprietary secrets, but that shouldn't interfere with listing a minumum operable file set, for instance. Thanks in advance for any help you might offer. cjbarber@email.org
