Start in Command Prompt mode. Hold the CTRL key while the computer is booting. This will produce a white-on-black boot menu. Select Command Prompt only from the menu.

Type these commands, hitting Enter after each one:

    deltree   /y   c:\*.sav
    ren   c:\config.sys   *.sav
    ren   c:\autoexec.bat   *.sav
Restart your computer.

If you still have that error, you didn't install W98 correctly. In that case, here's a procedure that might help.
