For some reason, Windows 98 seems to hold onto the old video card software. This
also happens when you change the motherboard on a computer. It'll tell you it found
new devices and assign drivers to them. However, some of the other devices in the
old motherboard may be improperly assigned to the new devices in the new motherboard,
which I feel is why this error happens.
The only way I know how to fix this is to delete the Windows 98 directory, and do
a fresh install of Win 98.
You'll have to reinstall some software, and some software will require you to buy
a new license as the old license was assigned to the old motherboard. But then you
should not have any problems with anything.
