ok, i am at my wits end. i am running windows 98 on an older dell dimension PC. recently
my computer has been crashing left and right mainly when i am online. i will try
to open a couple of pages with my browser (netscape 7.1) and the icons will all turn
black and i won't be able to load any new programs because it says i have used all
my required resources. i just installed a new memory stick so i have 318MB but it
doesn't seem to be doing the trick.
i have been trying to uninstall some of the crap that has ended up on my computer
over the years and lots of it doesn't have an associated uninstall file (such as
gator ewallet and gain) and there are a lot of other files laying around that i just
don't know what they are.
i consider myself fairly computer literate but i am scared that messing around with
my files is going to completely screw things up beyond repair.
what can i do to get this functioning again?
