YES!
You can remove it completely.
To remove option NEW from right-click menu when you click on desktop, follow
these steps:
1. Start registry editor by clicking START --> RUN and type in regedit
2. Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\New
3. In the LEFT editor panel right-click on this key named "NEW" and choose
EXPORT; then choose some location where to export this key in case something
goes wrong!!!
4. In the LEFT editor panel right-click on this key named "NEW" and click
DELETE
DONE!
In case you need to restore changes for any reason, just find the .reg file you
exported in step #3, double click the file, and entries are back in the registry!
