so today i completely formatted the c drive, reinstalled windows 98, got the internet working... but like everyone else here i am stuck with 16 colors and 640 x 480. i tried the suggestions here, but they arent working. and i dont know which video cards are on it, and its an AST computer, and they went out of business several years ago. the company that took over with their tech support even stopped doing that early 2003.
