hey all, ive been having a similar problem. last month my comp would spontaneously restart....with only a *beep*, windows xp would just restart....VERY FRUSTRATING !... so to fix the problem i did i am used to doing with previous windows o/s i format and re install. this is not a big issue as i have a second harddrive that contains backup docs / files. BUT, after this re-install windows xp now jsut spontaneously freezes up !!! ..although this is progress... i guess...it was not really what i was hopeing to achieve... i have sp1a installed... and explorer sp1 ... though i believe the problem started after the all knowing windows update told me to download 2 years worth of updates ...arggg ... please any suggestions would be appreciated... my system: p4 2.4, abit ic7, 1gb mem, WD 80GB (8mb) HDD + IBM 30GB HDD, ati radeon 8500, soundblaster audigy. think i might try the early release of sp2... man this is so anoying... later, merdox
