That can indicate either registry corruption or memory (RAM) problems.
If you restored a registry backup, as suggested by Pappy, and whether or not that
got rid of the error message, I suggest you run the Registry Checker to repair/rebuild
the system's registry. It's not difficult and hopefully will take care of it. It
has for me, more than once.
To do so, you need to boot to the Command Prompt. Reboot and hold the CTRL key down,
until you get the boot menu. Choose Command prompt only. At the C:\> type scanreg/fix
Hit Enter. Windows will attempt to repair/rebuild the registry. This takes a few
minutes. When done Hit Enter again.
At the next C:\ prompt, type: scanreg/opt to clear empty space in the registry.
Note: you'll see no activity during this. It's just a few seconds. Press Enter again,
then press CTRL_ALT_DEL or type: win and hit Enter to get back into Windows.
