The Applog folder can be completely cleared out. It's related to TaskMon's useless
function for assisting Windows Defrag utility, "rearranging program files so programs
(s'posedly) start faster". It's another unnecessary Windows resource user, which
is why I suggested you remove it from startup. It's constantly running in the background
gathering information. If you wish to leave it, that's your choice of course.
Part of my standard maintenance instructions:
Uncheck Taskmon in 'msconfig' under startup tab: Start - Run - type: msconfig - uncheck
it then Apply. Download Windows ME's defrag tool and replace your original. It's
much faster: ME Defrag
Close all tray applications, then hit Ctl_Alt_Del and End Task on everything but
Explorer and Systray. Disable your screensaver by temporarily setting to "None."
Run scandisk in "Standard" mode then defrag,. First in the defrag settings, uncheck
"rearrange program files so my programs start faster". Reboot.
