We have the same problem mick and I tried for days to find out why. Alas, I did now.
The file you download on the compaq website is corrupt. try using this ftp site from
compaq.
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/
Just search for the file SP1213S.exe and install it in your laptop. Let me know how
it goes.
