Hello,
I started having trouble similar to those in this string when I started my computer
one day and received an Invalid System Disk error. I have since been able to get
it to boot to a command prompt. I know that the msdos.sys file is corrupt and have
seen instructions on correcting it but cannot get past the read only attribute. I
also have received the message Not resetting hidden file c:\msdos.sys.
I have tried the attrib -r -h -s msdos.sys and also tried to fix it through msdos
editor. Any more ideas on getting it out of read-only mode? I saw the note about
scanreg/restore and will give that a try. Thank you for any help you can give.
I'd still really like to know for my own edification how to get past that read-only
attribute when in dos. Thanks!
Natasha
