Selecting "restart" from the Windows XP logoff, restart, shutdown menu results in the computer shutting down. This is not the problem of the computer restarting itself. Creating the restart link as described earlier using the "shutdown r" command results in the same problem. Microsoft support was not able to solve this problem.
