Friday, March 11, 2005 at 3:16 pm Windows 98 Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Thorshammer (3 messages posted) I have a question about How do I get the Windows Update feature to work?: This problem has arisen like a phoenix for me, I am not sure what this Internet Connection Wizard is, but I found the directory and renamed it rather than deleting it. The Completed entry in HCU\ S..\ M..\ Internet Connection Wizard was already 1. I have a DSL connection and I suspect the wizard has something to do with dial up - my memory is getting sooo bad. As suggested at http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/ I have tried deleting HLM\S..\M...\W...\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform All to no avail. If anyone has any other suggestions please advise note bene : I REINSTALLED W98SE ON 27/2/2005 AND DOWNLOADED ALL CRITICAL, DRIVER AND MOST OF THE OPTIONAL UPDATES ON THE 28/2/2005 - LIKE THAT'S LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AGO. So any suggestions that I reinstall W98SE will need to be supported by some pretty convincing evidence that that will fix the problem permanently.
