I have a question about Windows keeps forgetting simple settings, such as screen colors!:

I am running win98se and for the life of me I can not get my color back to 256 I had to format and reinstall.It's telling me I got a PCI STANDARD SUPER VGA ADAPTER and I got 2 and 16 bit but I just don't kow how to Change it.I been sitting in front if this thing for 4 days.PLEASE! PLEASE!! PLEASE!!! CAN SOME BODY HELP ME?
