Depends on which password it is....a bios password or a windows password...
If you never get as far as seeing a Windows screen of any type then it is probably
a bios password and sometimes there is a jumper on the motherboard that you can move
that will remove it and erase everything in the cmos setup as well.
2nd option is removing the cmos battery itself and putting it back in but these
steps are only for the older computers.
If it is a windows password, you will see a login name as well and that name you
will need to remember.
This fix is only good for Win9x versions of windows.
When the computer boots, you hold down F8, and a menu pops up and you select "Command
Prompt Only", and the computer boots into "DOS" mode.
At the "C:\" prompt, you type "cd windows" and then type "dir *.pwl" and that will
give you a list of all the windows logins on that machine.
If you delete the "pwl" file with the login name that you saw, it will remove
or clear that password.
When you reboot and get the same login prompt, just hit the "Enter" key.
Thanks....
