Unfortunately, most of the solutions posted don't help at all. I have gotten my machine
to have 86% of resources free on boot. And this is a Pentium 200MMX with 256MB of
RAM (no, it's NOT my main machine). I run the resource monitor and do various tasks.
I also have Analog X's MAXMEM running, to clear out my ram, I can usually get 60%
free.

When I delete a lot of files, or empty the recycle bin, the resource monitor suddenly
goes down from 74% to 0% in the blink of an eye. Appears to be an explorer problem.
If I'm really patient and wait a while, my resources come back, by explorer is no
longer responding.

Has anyone got a solution to this yet?

I don't have this same problem on my newer machine (also running 98SE because I hate
XP). I think it may have to do with my harddrive on the older computer being forced
to run in MS-DOS compatibility mode.
